Turning a house into a home.
Clients purchased a truly dream home, over three levels with four bedrooms and multiple living areas. I’ve helped with the finishing touches that make for an inviting, comfortable and timeless home to live in.
Before moving in they swept through with new paint and carpet. There are stunning views of the harbour, city and beyond. The parents, their adult children and grand kids are often sharing this dream home.
They had invested in quality furniture but had tired of their art work. And needed help to make their new home feel comfortable and inviting. It’s those finishing touches, (some call it styling), that really makes a home complete.
A welcoming entrance
Is created with a custom made vibrant wool runner. Bringing together the colours you see on your journey through this home. The capsule shape and geometric pattern is replicated on the steel base of the console. A stylish coat rack in sage green is a practical addition.
On the landing
A palm leaf patterned upholstered ottoman sits beneath artwork they purchased overseas. The existing chandelier adds a glamourous touch.
When the grand kids
Have a sleepover their bedroom features new curtains with a colourful tassel trim. This fun element will last them through teenage years and beyond.
The guest bedroom
Is cosy and warm. Not wanting to replace good curtains we worked with the chocolate fabric. A new duvet cover, red throw and cushions add visual warmth. The bronze coloured bedside lamps add balance.
We worked with existing curtains
In the two other bedrooms. Creating focal points by recovering the grey headboards in a textural green fabric. Refreshed with new duvet covers, cushions, throws and bedside table lamps make for restful spaces.
The art work above creates an interesting visual. This artwork was originally in a wide rimu frame but the new thin black frame modernises the look.
In the kitchen
We changed out under-bench cupboards to drawers to add more usable storage. And replaced white bar stools with new steely blue upholstered stools for a comfortable casual dining experience. Note how that artwork is well positioned to add visual interest.
The dining room
Received a stylish clean lined console sitting below an existing mirror. The perfect place to showcase beautiful ceramic artworks.
Two artworks work better than one
On this wall. The addition of wool throws and feather filled cushions to nestle into when watching TV just make for a comfortable and inviting living room.

These fabrics create a harmonious and stylish home.
The new home is adorned with beautiful furniture and art. The family room embraces warmth with curtains in a textured, slubby linen fabric. A complementing geometric stripe Roman blind hangs over the kitchen window. The formal living room features curtains flaunting an abstract lily pattern screen printed on linen.
A guest suite boasting refined style.
With mossy green sheers for daytime privacy. And an earthy, raw-textured linen in an agave colour, for a cosy warmth in the evening.
An exclusive space for girls to enjoy hobbies and crafts. The soft pastel pink textural weave sheer adds a warming glow. It's everything a girl could want.

On at The Dowse Art Museum
Is an exhibition, Paul Maseyk - Jugs in New Zealand Painting. Paul sourced paintings of jugs from fabulous artists like Hodgkins, Henderson, Angus and more and with clever interpretation has created ceramic look alike jugs. There’s a few McCahons hanging around The Dowse too. Well worth a visit.
Plus Bellbird Cafe is always a good place to finish with coffee and cake!
